Automated small goods storage systems

Körber supplies and implements two tried-and-tested storage solutions which provide a combination of proven hardware and state-of-the-art automation to deliver seamless high performance.

Miniload systems use automated cranes to compactly and cost-effectively store large quantities of goods. For even more performance, Körber also design and implement small goods shuttle solutions.

Storage challenges

Warehouses and distribution centers face a range of storage challenges:

  • Speed of change is increasing rapidly (due to industry advancements such as ecommerce).
  • An increasing number of different articles need to be stored but warehouse space is finite.
  • Human workforces can be slow, inefficient and costly.
  • Recruiting manual labor is often difficult, especially during periods of peak demand.

Automated storage solutions

Miniload Storage

This proven storage system moves totes, crates, cases, trays, carton boxes and so forth – large and small, at the same time – via an automated crane. Our miniload storage systems are designed with a small footprint, so you can optimize space in your warehouse.

Shuttle Storage

Small goods shuttle systems provide even faster access to your products, with more scalability and redundancy. This makes them the perfect choice for high performance goods-to-person solutions or shipping buffers, as often seen in retail and e-commerce.

lBy automating the storing and picking of small parts we managed to even increase our high service standards and efficiency in order processing, and laid another foundation for reaching our growth objectives. The concept for realization of the automated miniload was most convincing in technical terms.r

Key benefits

Miniload Storage

With our high-density storage solutions, you can store up to 4 times more products in the same footprint as shelf-based storage, in storage systems that can scale up to 20m in height. Plus, different load handling devices can effectively handle all shapes and sizes of bins, totes, and cartons.

Shuttle Storage

Shuttle storage systems achieve the same high density as miniloads, but can deliver more speed and greater scalability. Our intelligent automation layer perfectly synchronizes shuttle movements and accommodates your operational demands, ensuring just-in-time sequential arrival of products at your workstations.

The Körber difference

Our innovative storage solutions are designed to optimize space in your warehouse or distribution center, while increasing your operational efficiencies, reducing manual labor requirements, and ensuring a rapid return on investment.

Wittusen & Jensen (Norway)

This office supplies and graphics specialist opted for a miniload storage system with 3 cranes and multi-retrievers, which generates greater time and cost efficiencies for the business. The solution handles up to 3,700 orders a day and the storage capacity is up to 50,000 locations.

MS Motorservice (Germany)

To improve storing and picking efficiency at MS Motorservice International, Körber developed and implemented a small parts miniload storage system, complete with three-aisle miniload, featuring 30,000 double-deep storing totes, holding up to 40 kg.
