Körber Master Class Wrap-Up: SAP Supply Chain Excellence

With trends like customer demand continually shifting, a growing trend to eCommerce and an increasingly uncertain operating environment, there’s no question supply chain complexity is on the rise.

With trends like customer demand continually shifting, a growing trend to eCommerce and an increasingly uncertain operating environment, there’s no question supply chain complexity is on the rise. The SAP Supply Chain Logistics suite can help organizations address this always-expanding array of challenges – but only if its strengths are leveraged properly.
Our most recent Körber Master Class addressed how supply chain professionals can get the most out of SAP’s extensive solution set, such as extended warehouse management (EWM), cloud deployment options and automation integration. It also explored strategies for choosing the right implementation partners, ensuring the SAP technology is fine-tuned to each warehouse’s unique challenges. A brief recap of each section follows, but if you’d like to dive into the webinars for the first time – or even revisit them – all five 30-minute sessions are available on our website

Session #1 – SAP Supply Chain Logistics – Best Practices for Implementation

SAP has offered supply chain solutions for years, and its popularity only continues to grow. SAP’s Supply Chain Logistics suite can help users integrate processes throughout the entire supply chain. However, to ensure they can leverage SAP’s capabilities to their full extent, businesses need an implementation partner who has a thorough knowledge of the SAP toolset, of supply chain processes, and of industry specific requirements. By following the best practices addressed in this session, supply chain managers can avoid or resolve common implementation challenges and mold the SAP solution to their IT network’s specific needs.

Session #2 – Migrating from SAP WM to SAP EWM – Key Considerations for Your Project

SAP has recently announced that standard support for the legacy SAP warehouse management (WM) and SAP ERP (ECC) solutions will end in 2027. That’s why it’s imperative that companies using these legacy applications have a migration plan in place.
These sunset policies are forcing SAP customers to start planning their migrations to the current solutions of SAP S/4HANA and to SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM). However, these are complex projects and with no two warehouses alike, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. This session helps users understand the different migration options with regards to timing and architecture.

Session #3 – SAP EWM in the Cloud – How to Pick the Best Deployment Option for Your Business

Supply chain professionals can unlock numerous benefits when running SAP EWM. In addition, SAP is now offering multiple options for deploying SAP EWM in the cloud. A move to the cloud can bring additional benefits, including stable, predictable monthly costs while outsourcing the underlying IT infrastructure and its ongoing maintenance. However, many businesses still have concerns about running mission-critical solutions in the cloud.
This session helps supply chain professionals understand the differences between SAP’s cloud deployment offerings, and how to determine which deployment option – cloud or on-premises - will work best for them.

Session #4 – Automating Your Warehouse with SAP EWM and SAP MFS

The main task of the SAP material flow system (MFS) – an integrated functional component with SAP EWM – is to control and optimize automation equipment in the warehouse. While this integrated functionality has numerous advantages, it may not be the best solution for all warehouses. Whether you select an integrated SAP MFS or an external solution depends largely on the requirements for the automation infrastructure and its performance.

Supply chain professionals tackling an automation project through SAP MFS should consider the key success factors discussed in this session, such as:

  • Selecting the SAP architecture that best fits your warehouse management and automation control needs.
  • Finding the right integration partner to implement the required software and automation equipment.

Session #5 – Enhancing SAP Supply Chain Logistics with Voice Solutions

Supply chains running SAP can achieve operational improvements through voice-directed technology. Voice keeps workers safer and more satisfied with their jobs – a critical benefit, as labor challenges in the warehouse are prevalent. In fact, voice reduces turnover by 50%, increases productivity by 35% and improves picking accuracy by up to 85%. There are a range of integration options that allow supply chain professionals to add voice capabilities to their SAP WM or EWM systems. However, choosing the best option depends on their current systems, operational processes and IT strategy – three factors explored in this session.
